Beautiful Minds

Created by Azeb Martel-Wilson, Jessica Parsons, and Myriam Boucher-Pinard

Beautiful Minds sought to resist the violence caused by the stigmatization attached to mental disorders. Each photoshopped image depicts the loss of personhood that occurs once one is labeled as having a particular mental illness, but the final frame brings the person back into focus as various students courageously revealed their own struggles with a mental illness and expressed how labelling affects them.

The artists would like to thank Maggie Blondeau, Azeb Martel-Wilson, Max Kowalczyk, and Florencia Vallejo Ortiz  who sat for the portraits, and Kim Simard for her Photoshop expertise.
